OAK Families
O.A.K. (Outdoor Activity Klub) is a fun, family orientated, Saturday afternoon adventure for young families. All ages are welcome to join in.
We meet at 3 pm on the 4th Saturday of every month. If you think the weather may cancel an event you can call 027 66 00065 to confirm. All events are free of charge.
2010 Calendar
January 23: Treasure Hunt, One Tree Hill (buggies ok). Meet under the Oak trees beside the main roundabout next to carpark. Buggies ok.
February 27: Tunnels & Grass Slide; North Head, Devonport. Bring some cardboard or a realestate sign to aid the grass sliding and a torch for the tunnels. Buggies ok, backpacks best. Meet at first car park. If weather is good this is a great place to picnic before we meet at 3 pm.
March 27: Manurewa Botanic Gardens: Meet at the children’s playground. (buggies ok). If weather is good this is a good place to picnic before we meet at 3 pm.
April 24: Sand dunes: Lake Wainamu, Bethels Beach. No buggies, back packs only. Bring shoes as sand can be hot on a sunny day, towel and change of clothes as there is a safe, ankle deep river to paddle in, bring card board or similar to slide down dunes, insect repellant / sunscreen as appropriate. Meet at car park. If weather is good this is a great place to picnic too.
May 22: Bush walk: Cascades, Waitakere Ranges. Meet at car park. No buggies, bring backpacks.
June 26: Bike Riding, Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga. Bring bikes, helmets etc. Buggies ok. A great playground too. Meet at playground.
July 24: Parnell Rose Gardens: Meet at Rose gardens. Buggies ok.
August 28: Auckland Domain; Meet outside Winter Gardens (on grassy slope – fun to slide down too). Bring some food for the ducks. Buggies ok.
September 25: Bush walk: Hunua Falls; Meet at carpark. Not good for buggies, back packs best. If weather is good this is a great place to picnic before we all meet at 3 pm.
October 23: Ambury Farm, Mangere. Meet at car park. Bring some carrots, bread etc. to feed to the animals
November 27: Bike riding: Western Springs: Meet at playground. Buggies ok. Bring some food to feed the ducks, and bikes and helmets.
