Part of the problem is the premature pressure on children to learn and to become socialized. Another factor is the amount of screen time that children engage in. Description

This DVD considers WHY children need to play and WHAT they need for true play to result.

Play – at least the kind that builds brains and forwards development – is becoming an endangered activity! Part of the problem is the premature pressure on children to learn and to become socialized. Another factor is the amount of screen time that children engage in. The most significant factor however, is the failure to provide the kind of conditions that result in the kind of play that helps children realize their true potential.

So much of today’s ‘play’ is not true play at all!  Computer and ipad games are not true play and are actually damaging our children’s social, emotional and neurological development.  Their physical development – large muscle skills and co-ordination and balance can also be affected. Eye sight problems due to screen brightness and maintaining the same visual distance can develop.

So what is true play and how can we encourage this in our children?

This DVD will show parents the importance of true play for healthy child development. It will also help parents avoid the traps that we so often fall into when it comes to raising our children in this digital world.
